River Bend RVWell it just so happens that there is a self-serve car wash right outside of the Shady Acres RV Park and one of the bays is tall and meant for RVs.  So OK, I'll at least hose off the mud and muck we picked up earlier coming through the Wasatch Mountains

I'm not quite sure if it's tall enough and the height is not listed.  Supposedly, the Solitude is 13' 6" tall.  It will be close but I think it will fit.  Fortunately it did.

I added my coins and began to wash the passenger side which got most of the mud off.  Not a perfect job but certainly better than it was.  However, when I tried to move to the drivers side, I learned the hose was not long enough to clear the back end of the Solitude.  The hose was mounted on a swivel at the top of the wash just like a typical car wash.  But because of the height and short hose length, I could not "flip" the hose over the side of the Solitude to get to the other side.  My only option was to either skip the left side or pull out, go for a short drive to find somewhere to turn around, and pull in from the opposite direction.  Wanting to get on the road and not mess with it, I chose the former as the bulk of the mud was on the passenger side.

So after that fiasco, it was around 10:30 am when we finally headed out of Green River.  About 30 minutes down the road, we found a truck stop in Thompson Springs, UT and stopped to grab our morning coffee along with topping off the fuel tanks.  We noticed Ballard RV Park just up the street from the truck stop which looked pretty nice from the distance.  Their web site lists their rates at $30/$35 per night for 30/50 amp service.  It looked much nicer than Shady Acres in Green River and is about $20 less.  Next time we're through this area, I think we'll make that a stop.

The rest of the drive to Montrose, CO was fairly easy and that was a good thing.  I've been working with an orthopedic surgeon as both of my knees are shot.  While I'm a candidate for knee replacements, they prefer to wait until one is 60-65 years of age and I'm not quite there yet.  So the strategy is to alleviate symptoms and try to buy some time.  Well spending hours and hours in the truck has aggravated my right knee to the point of misery and the Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections I'd received a week prior have not been effective.  So I've been using cruise control as much as I can and supporting my leg with a rolled up towel.  I'll be calling my doctor back and asking what's next very soon.

We arrived at River Bend RV Park just before 2 pm.  The Solitude is much easier to set up with its hydraulic jacks and auto leveling than the old King of the Road.  No more needing to put blocks down or manually crank down stablizer jacks.  I bought some Andersen Trailer Jack Blocks which are way too expensive for the plastic and couple of magnets that they are but they are SO convenient.  The magnets stick to the jack feet so there is none of this "put on the ground, lower the jack, bend down, adjust" stuff any more.  Just stick the 6 blocks on the 6 jack feet, run down the front jacks enough to unhook the truck, pull the truck forward and out of the way, then push the auto-level button and let it do its thing.  After, simply plug in the electric, attach the water and sewer hoses, open the slide out rooms, and finished!

After setting up, we headed over to Shannon's mother's house to enjoy an evening sitting out on the patio and visiting.
