Shady Acres RVThe first issue on this trip is that our fresh water is not so fresh.  It does not have a very pleasant smell and is similar to rotten eggs.  Shannon calls it "fart water" and that's an accurate description. The good news is that as long as we're connected to water hook-ups, we bypass the tank and thus, the problem.  But in an effort to resolve that, I drained the fresh water tank this morning and refilled, hoping that will work.  We'll see.

So after all of that, it was just after 9 am when we hit the road and resumed our travels.  We stopped at a Love's Travel Stop in Wells, NV for coffee and a quick bite.  Then continued through the barren land through the rest of Nevada and the Bonneville Salt Flats of Utah.  Then we reached Salt Lake City.

I HATE driving through Salt Lake City!!!  Rude drivers.  Terrible traffic.  And narrow lanes due to continual construction.  But screw 'em!  I just put the rig in the right lanes and let all the wanna be speedsters race around me.  Right lanes are constantly added and removed so I've learned to not move over.  Just stay one or two lanes left of the rightmost lane and work my way though.

We made our way though Salt Lake and the various towns south to Provo.  Just past Provo at American Falls we took US-6 east and began our travels through the Wasatch Mountains.  Finally something to look at that's not the "blech" of Nevada and western Utah.

We had been seeing road signs warning of delays on US-6.  We wondered what that was all about and then we saw it.  It was obvious there was a flash flood not too long ago.  The highway was open but still covered in water and mud.  Needless to say, there had been no point in washing the Solitude before the trip.  The front and bottom half was covered in mud from the spray of the truck tires.  What a mess!  But no matter, we'll figure that out later.

We continued to Shady Acres RV Park where we had stayed the year prior.  I knew it was expensive at $56 for a basic spot in a row but it had water and electricity.  And with the heat and humidity, I knew we'd appreciate the use of the air conditioner.

After checking in, we made our way to our site and were set up in no time.  And good thing too because the ensuing thunderstorms provided quite the display from the nice large windows in the new Solitude.  We settled in and watched the show before turning in for the night.
